The plot of the Season 17 primer is said to be inspired by the infamous Robert Durst case.

Citing the report from Vulture.com, it was found out that the Benson and the team will focus on the case of "a wealthy, seemingly untouchable serial killer whose case mirrors Dursts, down to the trash bags full of body parts and the inadvertent confession seemingly caught on tape."

Drawing more speculations from the promo teaser, Vulture added that the suspect in this episode is a wealthy New Yorker.

The segment is also said to be the final piece to complete the "Law & Order – Robert Durst trifecta" which includes the 2002 "Criminal Intent" episode featuring an a cross-dresser killing his mob-daughter friend and the most recent 2004 episode of the show which saw actor Henry Stram playing the "eccentric cross-dressing millionaire" who killed his wife and his neighbour.

The pop culture mag added that in the brand new episode, actor Dallas Roberts will be reprising his role as the serial killer Greg Yates – the evil doctor who gave nightmares to viewers of "Law & Order: SVU" and "Chicago P.D." crossover segment.

"Law and Order: SVU" Season 17 premieres September 23 on NBC.
