'Law & Order SVU' Season 16 Premiere Live Stream, NBC Start Time, Spoilers: Sgt. Olivia Benson to Reveal Her New Baby Boy

NBC's long-running police-procedural drama series "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" is set to return again for season 16 Sept. 24 at 9/8c. As previously talked about, SVU's latest installment will see Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) new man: a newly adopted baby boy named Noah.

"To be in darkness and fear and all that that she went through and losing faith in humanity and then having, like, a miracle lobbed into your world, a light. It felt like a comet, really," Hargitay talked about her detective character. "I think that having a child changes everything and will redefine her."

Speculations suggest that after so much darkness in the previous season, fans will see the light returning on the show, especially for Benson. Instead of showing the detective in usual gritty crime scenes, recent promo videos featured Benson at home, peacefully and lovingly doting on her child.

"That's the thing. That's why I'm still here. There are still new notes being played, and after last year I was sort of wrecked emotionally. It was a very tough year … Warren [Leight], our showrunner, and I talked about it and about where do we go from here … This year feels so new, and that is why it's so exciting. To have a baby, it is a whole other set of muscles," the 50-year-old told CarterMatt.

Aside from the main character's development, Season 16's premiere episode entitled "Girls Disappeared" will show the SVU taking on a "dangerous prostitution ring" in lieu with their efforts to find a killer.

Succeeding week's episode entitled "American Disgrace" has a synopsis as well.

"Orion Bay clothing line press rep Carla Cannon (Kelley Missal) tells reporters she was raped by basketball superstar Shakir 'The Shark' Wilkins (Henry Simmons). However, the authenticity of her story and the stories of many others is questioned by Detective Carisi (Peter Scanavino) and leaves ADA Barba with a shaky case," the summary reads.
