"Law & Order: SVU" fans do not just watch the series for some crime action. Most viewers also tune in for some romance-drama between Lt. Olivia Benson and Capt. Ed Tucker. Fans have shipped the two main characters for quite some time now, however, nothing major has really happened to them. The past seasons showed them working together, solving one crime after another, but their relationship has never really moved forward.

"Law & Order: SVU" showrunner Warren Leight revealed that he is interested in resurrecting Elliot Stabler's character. Reports soon came out that Stabler would indeed return for Season 18. However, the showrunner further said that he wanted this character to return for the final run of the 18th season.

It is not too hard to guess that with the hype that the relationship between Ed Tucker and Olivia Benson is creating now, creators of "Law & Order: SVU" will consider bringing Stabler back. Fans believe that the next season will both be interesting as Tucker and Benson's relationship will be tested with Stabler's comeback. And of course, it would also be exciting as Stabler tries to rekindle his romance with Benson.

Lt. Olivia Benson is different when Tucker is around. She is all tough when she handles cases on her own, but when the Captain is near, she lets him be the boss. In the previous seasons, the fans have already noticed the softening of Benson and with each episode, they have observed the two getting. Having someone to stir things up could be exciting and at the same time awkward for the two characters.

Fans remember the character Sgt. Mike Dodds, who had to die in the finale of Season 17. There were no dramas on the set regarding the his death. Leight said that they understand fans were kept hanging regarding the demise of Dodds and his death was both "clever and unfortunate."
