LeBron James Doesn't Like Being Compared to God

Indiana Pacers point guard George Hill compared LeBron James to God, but the Miami Heat star responded by saying he is not infallible and "nowhere near close."

"It's only like one person that's more scarier than that and that's God," Hill said after Pacer's 97-93 Game 2 win Friday against James' team. "I'm sure if we were looking at him in the face we would be very nervous. I'm sure he could make all the plays that we want people to make. LeBron is a great player, he's the MVP for a reason, he's one of the best to ever play this game…"

While James has not objected to being called a king – he is nicknamed "King James" – he rejected this comparison. "I'm nowhere near close," SportingNews NBA quoted him as saying. The Heat star referred to his two turnovers a minute before the game ended which proved costly.

"I made two mistakes tonight that hurt our team," James said. "That hurt more than anything, to let my teammates down. They expect me to make plays down the stretch. I had the ball with the opportunity to make a couple of plays and I came up short. That burns, but the best thing about it is that this isn't college. It's not one loss and you're done. I'll have another opportunity to get better in Game 3."

Earlier this month, a debate began about whether he deserved the third NBA MVP award. He received the MVP trophy on May 12, before his team hosted the Indiana Pacers at the American Airlines Arena.

"Lebron James is the best player in the NBA," one fan tweeted. However, others questioned his credentials for the award after his team trailed behind the Chicago Bulls who earned the number 1 seed during the regular season. "Can someone please explain to me how Lebron James gets to be the 2012 MVP when his team isn't even the number 1 seed," one fan tweeted. "Makes no sense!"

James has been an NBA champion, an NBA Finals MVP, a four-time NBA MVP, an NBA scoring champion, the NBA Rookie of the Year, and an Olympic gold medalist. In 2010, he was ranked by Forbes as the second most influential athlete behind Lance Armstrong.

In August 2011, James defended Christian football star Tim Tebow at a time when a debate was underway about the Denver Broncos quarterback's starting position over teammate Kyle Orton that season.

"Tim Tebow will succeed in the NFL. He's a hard worker, a student of the game, a natural born leader and most of all a WINNER! It takes time and he'll be nice," James tweeted. "Listened to Merril Hoge today on SC and he was just blasting Tebow. The man hasn't even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in. Guys get on that TV and act like they was all WORLD when they played. How bout encouraging him and wishing him the best instead of hating!!"
