LeBron James News, Updates: Cavs Superstar Passes Jerry West for 19th Place in the All-Time Scoring List

LeBron James is just 30 years old, but his climb to the top of several NBA records is nothing short of amazing. In the Cleveland Cavaliers' 104-99 defeat at the hands of the surging Detroit Pistons, the man they call "King James" passed another great, Jerry West, for 19th in the league's all-time scoring list.

With 25,193 career points scored in still a very young career, there is little doubt as to the question of whether James will eventually become the greatest player to ever play the game once he retires.

He actually needed just 10 points to pass West, achieving the feat in the first quarter after a made 3-pointer in the corner. Although he made another record and likewise finished with 30 points, the Cavs couldn't catch up and lost to the Pistons.

Asked about the feat and passing the Lakers great West, James said that it definitely is an honor. "I know how much he did for the game, what he meant to the game. You know, I had an opportunity to read his book. I had an opportunity to actually talk to him a few times," the Cavs all-time leading scorer added.

James is no stranger to achievements; since being drafted first overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, he has won two NBA championships and four Most Valuable Player awards, not to mention two Olympic gold medals and a couple of NBA Finals MVP awards.

This season, he is averaging close to 30 points per game and is on track to pass Reggie Miller for the 18th spot in the all-time scoring list. Miller has 25,279 points, which means James only needs 66 to move past the Pacers great.

Based on his current performance, though, ESPN reports that he might even be able to reach the top 10 on the list provided he can play all 82 regular season games for the Cavaliers.
