'Legends of Tomorrow' Season 3 Spoilers: EP Differentiates Legends From Time Bureau

"Legends of Tomorrow" is just a few days away, and the web is already teeming with spoilers about the new season. Recently, executive producer Marc Guggenheim talked about season 3, particularly the advent of the Time Bureau and how it differs from the Legends.

The final episode of the previous season found the Legends re-teaming to provide fixes to current anachronisms, which include all the things that were dislodged in history. As the new season premieres, the Legends will discover that they now have a rival group — the Time Bureau — which Arthur Darvill's Rip Hunter has established to perform almost the same job as the Legends.

In a recent interview, Guggenheim described the difference between the two time-traveling groups: Time Bureau was "the scalpel," while the Legends were "the chainsaw." According to the executive producer, Rip Hunter's Time Bureau is a lot stricter than the Legends. "They do it without all the consequential damage to property and time, but probably also with a lot less fun." He went on to describe the Time Bureau as being "much more proper" than the Legends.

Guggenheim revealed that in season 3, the Time Bureau would serve as the fulfillment of Rip's wish. While the Legends are screw-ups, the former are very law-abiding, efficient, and professional. He also compared the new group to the Beverly Hills Cop, which is known for being an awesome institution. According to him, the Time Bureau works "to turn sharp corners," and they are very proper and always doing the right thing, although from time to time they still need Eddie Murphy's Axel Foley to get things done.

Despite having the Time Bureau, Guggenheim revealed that Rip will still need the help of the Legends every now and then. In a separate interview with Darvill, he revealed that he would still reach out to the Legends for help once he begins uncovering the underlying mystery of the new season.

"Legends of Tomorrow" season 3 premieres on Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
