July 26, 2012|3:01 pm

"Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey has filed for a divorce from her husband Peter Paul Loughran this week.

The 38-year-old cited "irreconcilable differences" during the Los Angeles filing, according to TMZ.

Married in 2007, Headey shares a 2-year-old son Wylie Elliot with Loughran, a musician from Ireland.

In a past interview, the actress admitted that upon meeting her husband it was love at first sight.

"He's not an actor, he's a normal man," explained Headey, according to the Daily Mail. "Well he's not normal; he's Irish, but you know what I mean."

She divulged that they met at a mutual friend's wedding and shared a dance together.

"This is the most healthy, beautiful thing that has happened to me," said the actress of falling in love.

Neither Headey nor Loughran have released a statement about the split.

Bermuda-born Headey is best known for her role as Queen Cersei Lannister on "Game of Thrones." HBO's hit series remains one of the most popular and critically acclaimed shows on television, and has earned numerous awards including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series and Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series.

"Thrones" actor Peter Dinklage, who portrays Queen Cersei's brother Tyrion Lannister, won both an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for Supporting Actor.

The medieval fantasy series also stars Emilia Clarke, Michelle Fairley, Aidan Gillen, Stephen Dillane, and Richard Madden, among many others.

Ahead of her "Thrones" role, Headey appeared in several major films including "The Jungle Book," Aberdeen," The Brothers Grimm," "300," and "The Red Baron."

Additionally, Headey is known for playing the starring role as Sarah Connor on Fox's television series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles." The series was a spin-off of James Cameron's "Terminator" film.
