Lenovo Shows Off New Gaming Laptops Y50, Y40

Lenovo is slimming down with its latest gaming laptop, the Lenovo Y50 and the Lenovo Y40, which boasts improved graphics and specs at affordable prices.

Lenovo's Y series of laptops, the Y50 and the Y40, are the company's latest series of gaming laptops. The Y50, which comes at 15.6 inches, and the Y40, at 14 inches, boasts an AMD Radeon graphics and a 4th generation Intel Core i7-4702HQ processor. It also comes with 16 GB RAM and a 1TB hybrid SSHD with 8GB SSD.

However, the Y50 also edges its partner out a little thanks to its more powerful NVIDIA GRX graphics and an 3840x2160 Ultra High Definition panel.

The Y50 also features an aluminum lid with subtle V-shaped striations, while the Y40 shows off a carbon-fiber motif and a soft-touch finish. The two are also slimmer at 0.94 and 0.93 inches, respectively, and lighter compared to its predecessors, shows off an AccuType keyboard for comfortable typing and red backlighting to give the keyboard a cool look.

Both laptops have been received relatively well since their release.

A review from Slash Gear called the Y50 a "beast of a laptop" and "a gaming machine boasting a combination of raw power and edgy design." Another review from CNET gave the Y50 four of five stars, calling the sharp 4K resolution an improvement and considered it a good mid-size laptop to do some high-end gaming, while a review from customers of Best Buy gave it 4.4 stars out of five.

Customers on Amazon gave the "very sleek, light and compact" Y40 4.3 stars out of five, while a review from Laptop Mag gave it three out of five stars for its sleek look, solid overall performance and battery life.
The Lenovo Y50 and Y40 laptop comes with a 720p HD webcam, USB 3.0 and 2.0, JBL stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, a card reader and works on up to five hours of battery life. It also operates on the Windows 8.1.

The laptops also come at relatively affordable prices from $499 to $999.
