Lenovo will launch the S920 smartphone which will feature Android 4.2, JellyBean and a quad-core processor.

The device was spotted at Lenovo's China webstore earlier this week, however it is not available for purchase at this time.

The S920 is arguably one of Lenovo's fastest smartphones to date and is the only handset made by the company that runs this version of JellyBean.

Other specifications on the device include a 5.3-inch HD screen with 1280x720 resolution, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front camera, 1GB RAM, micro SD card slot, and a 2,250 mAh battery.

It will also come with a case that is only 7mm thin. Lenovo will continue its collaboration with MediaTek as the S920 will feature the company's MT6589 processor. The device is expected to be released in China early next month.

The device's size basically places it in the phablet category making the S920 a competitor for the Galaxy Note 2. Its quad-core processor will make it just as fast as Samsung's device and is said to clock in at 1.2GHz. The S920 is expected to be cheaper than the Galaxy Note 2.

Samsung is already preparing to launch the Note 2's successor as the Galaxy Note 3's release will be this upcoming September.

The phablet along with the Galaxy Tab 3 will launch during that month, SamMobile reported, claiming to have received this information from an inside source. Both devices will debut at IFA in Berlin.

The report also stated that Samsung will roll out one more software update to the Galaxy Tab 2 which will allow it to run Android 4.2.2, JellyBean.

The original Galaxy Note debuted at IFA in 2011 so this information could be correct. No information as to the device's specifications was provided, though.

Samsung is rumored to be having a pilot testing this week for the Galaxy Note 3, which will be attended by AT&T executives.

A prototype model of the smartphone-tablet hybrid will be demonstrated in front of a select panel that will include the Chief Marketing Officer for the major U.S. carrier, KoreaTimes reported. Both companies will also work on creating new marketing strategies for the Note 3 during this testing.
