Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Update for LG G3 on AT&T Release Date Arrives

AT&T's LG G3 units are also getting the highly anticipated software update, the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. This follows the release of the new OS for the G3 models from mobile networks in other countries which actually started last year.

A report from Android Police indicated that the carrier has finally begun rolling out the Lollipop OS for the device. The new operating system version, as reported, is D85020f, with the Android build number LRX21Y.

With steady Wi-Fi connection and ample amount of battery power, G3 owners can get the over-the-air (OTA) update which comes around at 689MB file size.

Once prompted, owners can almost instantly get the new Lollipop look in their smartphones. The whole installation process, as said, could take about 5 minutes or so.

As for what the new OS offers to the device, the tech website said there's actually "a lot" to expect.

LG G3 users can now take a look of the revamped notification shade and lock screen which are now more in line with the current layout of Google's Nexus devices. Moreover, customers will also notice the redesigned software navigation button icons.

The site however noted that AT&T's LG G3 haven't integrated yet Android's "native multiuser mode" for this particular update but will retain the "guest mode" system instead.

Other major U.S. carriers of the LG device haven't followed suit yet nor announce any possible date of update roll out. However, EnGadget said in their report that other networks might likely follow suit AT&T's release in due time.
