LG Releases Video for New Quad-Core Flagship Smartphone

LG will be releasing a new quad-core flagship smartphone this year.

The company just released a video in Korean that serves as a teaser for this new device that is said to feature a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.

The Verge translated the teaser and found that the Snapdragon S4 Pro is actually a second-generation quad-core processor. This means this new chip will blow the current quad-core chips out of the water.

There has not been that much more information regarding the device, but more videos describing it will be released by LG in the coming weeks.

The first rumors of LG releasing a quad-core flagship smartphone began surfacing in July of this year. This handset will be built to the exact specifications laid out by the company's chairman Koo Bon-Moo.

Those specs include a 720p 4.7-inch display, 13-megapixel camera, and 2GB of RAM. This allows it to match up to this top-of-the-line processor.

This Snapdragon S4 Pro has been confirmed by Qualcomm to be the benchmark-destroying APQ8064.

LG's teaser also states that five more will be released soon and the company could speak more on this handset at next week's IFA.

The specifications on this device trump anything that is currently available in the market, including the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X, which are the two most popular handsets featuring quad-core processors.

LG seems to have waited to see what the competition would do this year, and now it looks like the company is ready to strike.

Apple is next up to renew its flagship smartphone as the company is expected to unveil the next-generation iPhone on Sept. 12. It is not clear what kind of processor the company will use.
