'Life' Release Date, News: Alien Lifeform Tries to Outsmart Crew Into Going to Earth

Skydance and Columbia Pictures' science fiction/thriller film "Life" may be a product of imagination, yet the creators sought help from experts from the field to make the depiction as realistic as possible. As such, one can expect that the experience will be portraying things that may be distantly impossible yet at the same time could still happen.

In a vignette for the film, the crew aboard the International Space Station is trying to contain the creature that has been wreaking havoc, posing an imminent threat to anything close to it. They desperately exhaust all efforts to put it in quarantine within the facility, yet it finds a way to outsmart everyone.

Space and Emergency Medicine expert Dr. Kevin Fong explains the danger of the events in "Life." "You've got the very real immediacy of your situation which is the safety of your crew and the people below you," Fong points out, making quarantine the most sensible solution given the incident. Geneticist Dr. Adam Rutherford agrees, saying, "This is the classic scientific dilemma when dealing with something unknown and dangerous."

Unfortunately, though, it appears the film is teasing that there's a chance the mission may have failed. In the recently released trailer, the alien lifeform attempts to outsmart and outmuscle the team of scientists in every way, despite their efforts to contain it. When they thought they were able to leave the creature within the space station, it looks like they may have had it as a stowaway on an escape pod back to Earth.

Such an event is exactly the occurrence that the team has been trying to prevent. It will be terrifying to see what the creature is capable of, yet at the same time an interesting plot to discover. With a rapidly evolving life form, it appears the things it can do are dreadfully limitless.

"Life" arrives in theaters on March 24, 2017.
