In an earlier statement released by CBS, the network has stated that all of its shows that are on its first year will have the assurance to be filmed for at least a second season. This statement was one of the main reasons why the cancellation of Limitless came as a surprise to fans. However, Supergirl will be premiering its second season at The CW despite being on its first year.

Pitching to Different Networks

The Supergirl move to The CW gave the fans some hope. It was reported that CBS had pitched the second season of Limitless to both Netflix and Amazon. However, neither of the streaming service provides had shown interest to pick up the show. Showrunner and writer Craig Sweeney, along with executive producer and recurring cast member Bradley Cooper, was reportedly working on pitching Limitless Season 3 on an alternative network.

Initial reports have stated that The CW was previously interested in the development of the show's first episode for the second season. However, it has been confirmed that the network had already refused to do so. The CW would have been the saving grace of Limitless, as previous negotiations with NBC, FOX and ABC were deemed unsuccessful.

What Happens Next?

With Amazon, Netflix, and The CW now out of the picture, Sweeney has reportedly tried to pitch the second season of Limitless to other networks, to no avail. He then expressed his gratitude to the fans of the show, for their continuous support and for fighting for Limitless.

The original concept of Limitless was that it is a sci-fi comedy drama venturing into the realm of the NZT drug. As the series went on, the focus becomes somewhat geared toward solving crimes through the drug element. This feel, genre, and storyline, along with the original concept, would perfectly appeal to other cable networks, such as HBO, FX, AMC and Showtime.

Whichever network decides to pick up the show, the huge fan base it has will surely support it in any way. The drama, the comedy, and the crime-fighting elements will definitely kick in once Limitless Season 2 gets released.
