Lohan was spending a night out at Club Avenue when the incident occurred. She was allegedly sitting next to a woman in a separate booth when the two began to argue, according to TMZ.

The two exchanged words in the restaurant when the "Liz and Dick" star became frustrated and asked the patron to give her some space, according to law enforcement officials. The altercation appeared to come to an end and some time lapsed before Lohan reportedly decided to throw a random punch at the woman, hitting the left side of her face.

Lohan proceeded by leaving the club and entering the passenger side of a vehicle, according to TMZ. The car began to leave the scene before police intercepted it and made the arrest. Lohan was cuffed outside of the vehicle and according to the report, repeatedly said: "Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?"

"Lindsay was booked for 3rd degree misdemeanor assault, given a desk appearance ticket (meaning she must show up in court in the near future) and released several hours after she was taken into custody," TMZ confirmed. "Law enforcement says she was 'visibly tired' at the station."

The incident is Lohan's second offense after promising a judge that she would stay out of trouble with the law; the star also faces charges for lying to police after being involved in a car accident. Lohan was set on a free-range parole under the condition that she cleaned up her act. Both altercations could result in the star returning to prison.

Further complicating Lohan's situation are the number of poor reviews that her comeback Lifetime movie received, which allegedly left the star "crushed."
