Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn, who was injured on the slopes last weekend in Austria, posted a photo of her bruised knee on Facebook that was a bit graphic for some, although inspirational to others.

Vonn, a 4-time World Cup champion, was involved in a severe crash on Feb. 5 while skiing at the Alpine World Championships in Schladming, Austria. After being airlifted to a nearby hospital, it was revealed that Vonn tore her anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in her right knee and fractured her right tibia.

The pro skier, who has also posed as a model for Sports Illustrated, later joked on her Facebook that she may have to wear a long skirt this summer.

"My knee looks...um...not very good.... #longskirtsthissummer #ugh," Vonn wrote on Friday, revealing a picture of her badly bruised knee.

The skier apparently has some very loyal fans and received nearly 23,000 Facebook "likes" for the picture and almost 3,000 comments. Fans from across the world chimed in to show their support.

"UHH ! Must hurt ! It looks lika you have been attacked by a shark or a lion my friend. Take a large whiskey Vonn !!" one Facebook fan wrote on the athletes page.

"Be well soon Lindsey! I wish you all the best. We are looking forward to see you at Shotsi olympic games next year. - your fan from Finland," another user wrote.

"Hi Lindsey, I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to next season and especially the Olympic Games in Sochi to win. Good luck, Igor from the Czech Republic," a third fan added.

Vonn was forced to undergo a surgery for the injury last Monday, which she remarked was a success.

"Success! Surgery went very well yesterday and I'm recovering at home in vail with my family," she posted on Facebook. "I want to sincerely thank everyone for their well wishes these last few days. It's going to be a long and hard road back but I will be back!!"
