'Power Rangers' Returning News: Lionsgate Set to Bring Back Rangers
The hit 90s kids show the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" will be back, and Lionsgate is reportedly bringing the show to the big screen.
The Fox Kids TV show was adapted from the Japanese TV series "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger," and has become a hit in 1993, making the show a "pop culture phenomenon" worldwide. The TV series was also the inspiration of the 1995 movie "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie." In 1996, the show changed its name to just "Power Rangers," and changes cast and subtitles every season after.
The American TV series revolves around the stories of a group of high school teenagers, who have extraterrestrial powers. They save the world using their powers, and with the help of Zords, which are giant mechanical vehicles.

According to Variety, Dean Israelite will be directing the comeback movie of the colorful fighters, and Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller are writing the movie scripts.
The website also reported that Lionsgate is now looking for young and upcoming talents and actors, to form the new batch of the "Power Rangers." Comic Book Resources said that among the potential new "Power Rangers" are Austin Butler ("The Shannar Chronicles"), Mitchell Hope ("The Descendants"), and KJ Apa ("Shortland Street"), who are testing for the Red Ranger's character Jason, while the actors that are rumored to be testing for the Black Ranger's character, Zack, are Ross Butler ("Chasing Life"), Daniel Zovatto ("It Follows"), and Brian "Sene" Marc.
On the other hand, the Pink Ranger's character, Kimberley, have AnnaSophia Robb ("The Carrie Diaries"), Naomi Scott ("The Martian"), and Stephanie Scott testing for the role. The movie outfit is said to look for "unknown" actors to play the roles of the Blue and Yellow Rangers, and wants to get a "big celebrity name" to portray the movie's antagonist.
The "Power Rangers" is set to premiere on Jan. 13, 2017.
