Former "That 70's Show" actress Lisa Robin Kelly has denied the domestic abuse charges reported by media Tuesday, insisting that the charges were brought on by a scheming roommate.
Kelly was arrested Saturday, following the police report of a man who alleged domestic abuse. While Kelly was released later on Saturday, the arrest brought attention to the actress' apparent downward-spiraling career.
The photo taken after Kelly's arrest depicts the actress with messy hair and a cut on her lip, a far cry from the promiscuous "bad girl" that Kelly once played on "That 70's Show" from 1998 to 2003. In 2010, the actress was arrested for a DUI.
Kelly is now claiming that her Saturday arrest was not her fault, and has charged that it was her male roommate instead who had attempted to "rough" her up.
Kelly told TMZ that "she was wrongfully arrested for allegedly attacking the guy at their L.A. home this weekend ... because she never laid a hand on the guy." She added that she had "been having issues with the guy for a while ... and tried to leave the pad for good on Friday, but he became angry and 'roughed me up.'"
The actress originally called the police to report the incident and claimed her roommate left before the police could arrive, according to Kelly. It was not until later that she discovered the roommate had gone to the police to file a report of his own, a move which Kelly says was done to "set her up."
"He must have scratched himself or done something to himself," Kelly told TMZ.
Kelly also admitted that she had been struggling to regain her career and was disappointed by the blow despite her hard efforts.
"I am clean and sober and I have made a lot of progress. I am completely innocent. I weigh 105 pounds. I could never hurt him. I just want to start working again," she stated.
