'Longmire' season 4 news: Official trailer shows Walt seeking revenge

As the once canceled show picks up the pieces to prove that it can be a critically acclaimed western crime drama for another round, Netflix's official trailer of "Longmire" shows Walt on a journey for his soulful revenge.

With Netflix's decision to revive the series that was canceled by A&E last year, fans are now looking toward the release of the show's fourth installment in the coming week.

According to Screen Rant, executive producer Greer Shephard said during the Longmire panel at the Television Critics Association earlier this year that the upcoming season revolves around how a person handles second chances and they have incorporated the theme with their campaign.

Shephard further explained, "There are a lot of ways in which people can rebuild themselves after devastating experiences. We explore that theme throughout each of our characters. Now that Walt knows the murderer of his wife, how does he go on? With Henry, he has a new-found freedom, what does he do with it?"

As Shephard put it, Walt, played by Robert Taylor, will be falling to his dark desires of tracking down his wife's killer. While he is once again set to recollect his position as sheriff of Absaroka county in Wyoming, he is also focused on uncovering the mysteries behind his wife's death.

The official trailer also shows that a conflict will come in between Native Americans and the U.S. government. The same conflict will create a rift on the friendship of Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Philips) and Longmire.

It was also confirmed by Shephard that the issue on prosecuting nonnatives who commit crimes against the nation will be addressed in the upcoming installment.

Another mystery that will probably be uncovered soon is the exciting finale of season 3 where Branch was supposedly shot by his father — or the other way around. Spoilers suggest that the events in the finale will be cleared along the way.

Longmire season 4 will premiere on Netflix Thursday, Sept. 10.
