Los Angeles Clippers NBA Trade Rumors: Clippers Interested in Omri Casspi

Omri Casspi was supposed to be sidelined for at least four weeks when he broke his right thumb during his first game with the New Orleans Pelicans on Feb. 23, but he has been cleared by the doctors sooner than anticipated. Since the Pelicans waived him before the playoff eligibility waiver deadline on March 1, Casspi will be eligible to play in the playoffs. This makes him an interesting option for playoff-bound teams who are looking to add more depth.

According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the Los Angeles Clippers are interested in signing Casspi. However, they will have to compete with several other playoff teams including the Memphis Grizzlies.

Casspi will be a great addition to the team. He will give the Clippers a legitimate scoring threat at the small forward position, and he is also versatile enough to play power forward and shooting guard. Well, he probably won't be seeing minutes at the two position since the team has a lot of guards, but he should give them a lot of options.

Luc Mbah a Moute is not going to scare anyone on the offensive end, but Casspi's outside shooting should help space the floor to give Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan more room to operate inside.

The Clippers have a full roster right now, so they will have to waive someone to open up a roster spot. A number of observers have pointed out that veteran swingman Alan Anderson will probably be released if Casspi decides to sign with the team. Anderson didn't really play much this season and he's probably the most expendable player on the bench.

With Chandler Parsons sidelined with a season-ending injury, the Grizzlies will also be one of the most attractive landing spots for Casspi. He should have a lot of playing time if he decides to join them, but the Clippers probably have the better chance of going deep into the playoffs.
