Los Angeles Lakers NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Trade Lou Williams to the Rockets
Lou Williams' name has been bandied about in trade rumors with the trade deadline approaching. Everyone wanted a piece of the veteran guard and he was linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Washington Wizards, the Charlotte Hornets, the Utah Jazz and the Indiana Pacers.
But in the end, the Houston Rockets won the Lou Williams sweepstakes when they acquired him in exchange for a 2017 first-round pick and forward Corey Brewer. Well, this is a done deal and Williams has already thanked his fans for the support.
The trade took place hours after Magic Johnson became the Lakers' president of basketball operations. The Lakers sacked general manager Mitch Kupchak and executive vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss.

Williams is averaging 18.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 2.1 three-pointers in just over 24 minutes per game for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. He is also shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range.
Williams will continue to act as a spark plug off the bench for the Rockets and he should get a lot of open looks when he plays together with James Harden. The Rockets are already leading the league in three points attempted and made, but they should shoot a lot more threes with Williams around.
Meanwhile, the trade gives the Lakers another first-round draft pick in this year's draft. However, they may lose their own pick to the Philadelphia 76ers if it falls out of the top-three. This year's draft class is going to be loaded so the Lakers had the right idea of stockpiling draft picks in case they lose one.
Drafted seventh overall in 2007, Brewer is a decent shooting guard/forward who's a good on-ball defender. He has been an inconsistent shooter throughout his career and he is only averaging 4.2 points this season while shooting 41.4 percent from the field.
