Los Angeles Lakers vs New York Knicks takes place on Thursday night in the NBA as the Knicks look to help the Lakers on their way to their longest losing streak since the 2010-11 season. The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
The Lakers are desperate to end their current losing streak, but they might have a difficult task doing so tonight, as they go on the road to New York against the Knicks, who are flying high at the top of the Eastern Conference right now.
It will be Mike D'Antoni's first game against the Knicks since he resigned in March and he would love nothing more than to get one over on New York tonight. However, he will know all too well the challenge laying ahead for him with this current Lakers team. When he arrived in mid-November he took over a team making its worst start to a season for nearly two decades.
Although the Lakers have shown signs of life since D'Antoni arrived they have continued to struggle and be inconsistent in their play, and now come into this game with a record of 9-13.
More recently though things have gone from bad to worse, as they lost their third straight game against Cleveland on Tuesday night, making a new low for their season. If they lose again tonight it will be four losses in a row, which would near their funk in April 2011 when they lost five straight games.
Dwight Howard has said ahead of tonight's game: "We've got to stay focused and stay strong. We can't let this break who we are as a team. We're not playing the greatest basketball. But there will come a day when we'll have the gun. Right now, we're rabbits. Once we get the gun, it's not going to be fun for everybody else," according to NBA.com.
