Lotus Evora Sport 410 Release Date, Specs News: One-Off Sports Car Pays Homage to James Bond's Espirit S1

Lotus has introduced a special model of the Evora Sport 410 which pays homage to the Espirit S1, a sports car released by the British automaker in 1976 that gained popularity following an appearance in a James Bond film.

A modified version of the Lotus Espirit S1 was featured in "The Spy Who Loved Me" as the car used by the iconic secret agent, portrayed by Roger Moore. It was notable for being able to turn into a submarine for an underwater melee. The film was released in 1977 and the one-off iteration of the Evora Sport 410 was crafted to commemorate the film's 40th anniversary.

The James Bond-inspired sports car is based on the standard Evora Sport 410, which was introduced last October 2016. It is powered by a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine mated to a sports ratio six-speed manual transmission to deliver 410 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The use of aerodynamic and lightweight carbon fiber components translates to weight savings, a lower center of gravity and extreme levels of performance. The sports car can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in just 3.9 seconds and attains a top speed of 190 mph.

However, the exclusive model features unique design touches created by Lotus Exclusive, the automaker's in-house personalization department, to differentiate it from the standard sports car. It features a color-coded front bumper, a carbon-fiber tailgate, a black coach line and a bespoke badge script on the B pillar using the original graphics used by the Espirit S1. Inside, the carbon-fiber sports seats have Tartan panels and there is red contrast stitching on the Alcantara dashboard and console.

The one-off model also showcases what can be done with the Lotus Exclusive service, which offers a wide range of options that customers can choose from to customize their vehicle.

Lotus will only release 150 examples of the Evora Sport 410 each year. The sports car is now available to purchase in Europe. Meanwhile, a modified version designed for the North American market will arrive this spring.
