Loyal Chinese Dog Refuses to Leave Master's Graveside (VIDEO)

November 23, 2011|7:53 pm

A loyal Chinese dog has kept watch over his owner’s grave in the south of Beijing for more than a week.

The local community of Panjiatun village has seen the dog’s devotion and it has touched them so much that they’ve made plans to build a kennel there for him.

Owner Lao Pan, a single man, died earlier this month at aged 68. After he died the dog disappeared, but he was later found at his master’s grave. He has now been there for more than a week and has refused to leave.

Concerned villagers have tried to coax the dog away, using food and other items. According to the BBC, villagers were able to feed the dog some buns, but as soon as he was fed he returned to his master’s graveside.

A number of media outlets have highlighted the story’s similarities to Edinburgh's Greyfriars Bobby, a Skye Terrier who remained at his master's grave for 14 years in Scotland in the mid-1800s.

Bobby has been reported to have spent his life sitting on his master's grave, all the time being cared for by locals and well-wishers.
