Luke Cage and Jessica Jones May Still Work Together in Netflix's New Series

Luke Cage is set to hit Netflix on September 30

It seems that there is still hope for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage after all. When the follow-up Marvel superhero series Luke Cage drops in Netflix by September 30, the fallout of Jessica's goodbye to Luke will be dealt with.

That is what Luke Cage star, Mike Colter, himself said during a panel in front of hundreds of fans on the first day of Comic-Con. The first teaser for the new series also debuted in the event.

According to Colter, Luke Cage will be set a few months after the final episode of Jessica Jones. This will give his series some breathing space from the past show and at the same time allow it to have its own plot line.

As expected with shows like these, events in the past will greatly influence the present. Jessica Jones, the series, predominantly featured on the incredibly strong but alcoholic detective the series was named after. However, the show became a launching pad for another Marvel Cinematic Universe's superhero, Luke Cage.

Although Luke Cage was only a support to Jessica Jones and appeared only in 7 of the 13 episodes, Mike Colter's performance was raved by many and was thought to have brought much excitement to the Jessica Jones series. As early as November 2013, it was made known that Luke Cage will be the third of four series as part of a deal entered into by Marvel and Netflix.

Luke Cage's superpower is that his skin is unbreakable that it cannot be cut or burned. This was the result of an experiment done on him while he was in prison for a crime he did not commit. In the Netflix series, he is strong and confident but has a serious emotional damage.

Plot details are not being revealed at this point except to say that the superhero will be tackling a criminal enterprise that threaten the Harlem neighborhood. Alfre Woodard who plays the politician Mariah Dillard, raved about the title character, "What's great about Luke is his reluctance. He's very accessible; we all have to make choices every day about how much to get involved in the world around us."

In the just released trailer, Mike Colter as the titular hero, is seen showing more off his skills than he ever did in the Jessica Jones series. Cottonmouth Stokes, played by Mahershala Ali, looked villainous in the trailer. Watch the trailer below.
