LWR Announces New VP for International Programs
Following LWR’s announcement last Friday, Timothy McCully will be responsible for guiding LWR's overseas program activity in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
The former Deputy Director for International Relief and Director for Asia and the Pacific at the American Red Cross will be serving as the Vice President for International Programs for Lutheran World Relief.
Following LWR’s announcement last Friday, Timothy McCully will be responsible for guiding LWR's overseas program activity in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
"I am delighted," said LWR president Kathryn Wolford. "Tim's leadership and management experience will serve LWR well, and his expertise will be invaluable."

According to LWR, McCully has dedicated his career to international relief and development. Prior to joining the Red Cross, he was a program officer for Refugee Affairs at InterAction, a staff consultant at The Asia Society, and a refugee assistance specialist for the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief, an agency of the Episcopal Church. He holds an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University and a B.A. in International Affairs from Lewis and Clark College.
Even before joining LWR, McCully said he admired the organization's approach to overseas work. "LWR's innovative and creative approach to working with local partners has long been recognized within the development community as has their commitment to working on behalf of the poorest of the poor," he said.
"I'm excited to be joining an organization with such a high reputation and to be heading up an excellent program team. I look forward to the challenges of expanding our work in ways that reflect today's rapidly changing environment."
Since its founding in 1945, Lutheran World Relief has been responding to emergencies and disasters, working through partners and global relief and development networks in 50 countries.
