According to research website Gartner, there has been a 5.2 percent decrease in PC shipments globally. In their table, Lenovo got the top spot as it shipped more than 13 million PCs during the second quarter or more than 20 percent of the PC market share.

Lenovo was followed by HP with a 19.1 percent market share after it sold and shipped more than 12 million units. Dell came in third place with a shipping of nearly 10 million units and 15.2 percent of the overall PC market share.

Asus was in fourth place with more than 4.7 million PCs shipped and a 7.3 percent market share. It was followed closely by Apple at fifth place with 4.6 million PC shipments and a 7.1 percent PC market share.

Is Apple Doing Okay?

Apple suffered the most in the second quarter as Mac shipments decreased 4.9 percent from 2015. In the Gartner table, the research house noted that their data for PC shipments only includes desktop PCs, notebooks or laptops and ultramobile premiums. It does not include iPads or Chromebooks. The results are only preliminary and may be subject to change any time.

According to Apple Insider, Apple remains in fourth place in the US market. However, there is hope as the upcoming MacBook line of the company is expected to boost its PC sales and, hopefully, the market share of the company.

PC Market in the United States Doing Okay; Europe and South America Unclear

Gartner's Mikako Kitagawa said that the PC market share will remain constant in the US market. The coming of the Windows 10 operating system could increase the momentum until the third quarter. However, the PC market share in the European and South American markets remain unclear as political and economic issues are ravaging the nations. The Brexit will affect PC shipments in Europe, particularly in the UK, in the third quarter.
