Macaulay Culkin Gaunt Photo: Publicist Says No Cause for Concern (VIDEO)

Pictures of actor Macaulay Culkin have surfaced with the star looking gaunt and haggard. The photos immediately caused worry among his fans, however, despite his appearance, the actor's representatives have said there is no cause for concern over his health.

A photo of Macaulay Culkin looking gaunt was released by Entertainment Tonight, with the startlingly thin former child actor posing in New York City in a baggy leather jacket with a can of Red Bull.

Fans were shocked, but Culkin's publicist says there's no cause for concern, because he is "in perfectly good health."

Culkin, who was described by Entertainment Tonight as "extremely thin and scruffy," was far from the child roles many knew him for in "Home Alone," "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," and "Richie Rich."

His representative, though, didn't feel that his transition from famous child actor to 32-year-old thespian warranted speculation, and said so.

"Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health," the rep told The Sun. "For Entertainment Tonight or any other media to speculate otherwise is thoughtless, irresponsible and destructive."

One theory behind Culkin's weight loss was his acting career. There were rumors that he could be transforming himself for "Service Man," described by IMDB.com as "an uplifting military action comedy drama, made in the style of the 1980's feel good movies."

Culkin's publicist denies these claims. The film has confirmed Plan B and Martin Clunes, though.

The scrutinizing of Culkin over the photo could be a smaller part of a much larger trend concerning the former child star. Many remember his roles in the "Home Alone" films that catapulted him to stardom, and those same fans likely remember his feud with his parents overshadowing his fame.

Culkin sued his parents for mismanaging his fortune, and divorced his childhood sweetheart Rachel Miner in 2002, after marrying her at 17.

Two years later, the actor was arrested for possession of marijuana and other controlled substances. He was charged, received three suspended prison terms, fined, and put into a drug rehab program.

He also split from "Friends With Benefits" star Mila Kunis after an eight year relationship in 2010.
