MacBook Air Retina Display 2015 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Thinner Frame, Ultra-Fast Intel Chips?

Last year, Apple did not announce any new MacBook Airs to the dismay of fans who are waiting to upgrade their laptops. The only launch that may be considered was around March when the Cupertino giant released a better version of the mid-2013 MacBook Air.

However this year, Apple may finally end its silence in the ultraportable laptop category.

Based on previous rumors about the new MacBook Air, it would finally boast a Retina display, just like other Macs in the market. Interestingly, the new laptop will allegedly come in at 12-inches – just in the middle of the current 11.6 and 13-inch models.

Aside from the higher resolution and new screen size, rumors are also pointing out some aesthetic changes, particularly that which include the Apple logo on the laptop's lid.

According to a report by the Venture Capital Post, a Chinese source claimed that the new MacBook lid would feature a metallic Apple logo instead of the usual backlit logo.

That may be one step backward as far as design is concerned, but Apple may be aiming for better specs in terms of processing power.

Past reports have consistently pointed that the new MacBook Air would boast Intel's new Broadwell-Y Core M processors that promises the power-saving wonders of Haswell, with in a much faster frequency.

In addition, the processor will be fan-free, which means the MacBook Air this year could be the slimmest laptop ever to be developed by Apple.

Other rumored specs include a Touch ID sensor that will support Apple Pay, even fewer USB ports due to the thinner base, and a price tag that is similar to that of the 11.6-inch model.
