Apple has yet to upgrade its line of Macs in 2013, including the Macbook Pro, Macbook Pro with Retina Display, iMacs, and Mac Pro. Now latest news rumors are suggesting that Apple may produce a new Macbook Pro 2013 version that will be a hybrid between a Pro and a Retina Display, and that it will ditch the optical drive.

Apple's iPhone media event on Sept. 10 revealed two new handsets - the all new budget iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S. In addition, some new features for the iOS 7 were previewed, along with a list of free apps that will be made available with the new handsets.

However, those waiting to buy a new Macbook this year were left disappointed when the upgraded line of Macbook Pros were not even mentioned at the event.

Apple made no mention of the release of the upgraded Macs in their keynote address Tuesday, leaving many wondering when the upgrades will take place and what they will be?

Apple's flagship Macbook Pro has yet to receive the upgraded fourth-generation 'Haswell' processor. The new Macbook Air already packs the powerful processor that has significantly increased battery life, boosting it up to 14 hours.

Some rumors have suggested that Apple could decide to take out the optical drive found in the current Macbook Pros for the new upgrade, taking the same step when they removed the drive from the iMacs in 2012.

The new 2013 Macbook Pro may also feature retina display, meaning that it will be a hybrid of the two existing models.

However, as always with Apple before their official releases, nothing has been confirmed and there have been no official announcements from Apple.

One thing for sure is that it will be upgraded with the Haswell processor and launch with the new OS X Mavericks.

The iMac is also due for a refresh with internal upgrades since its release in 2012.

A separate event to release the 5th generation iPad will be held in October 2013.
