MacBook Pro 2016 Latest News and Rumors: New Features, Specs, Rescheduled Apple Event and Price Details Revealed

Many Apple fans expected that the MacBook Pro 2016 will be unveiled at the same time as the iPhone 7 was launched last September. That didn't happen apparently, much to the dismay of fans waiting for the latest edition of the laptop. In fact, the company hasn't even mentioned anything about a new version of the MacBook Pro.

That's not to keep people from writing about MacBook Pro 2016 rumors regarding the specs, dimensions and features of the device. Here are some of them.

TechRadar says the MacBook Pro 2016 will run on SkyLake processors. These processors were developed by Intel back in 2015; a microarchitecture redesign over the previous Broadwell architecture.

A new feature that is said to debut in the 2016 MacBook Pro is the OLED panel which will replace the physical function buttons at the top of the keyboard. The panel is also rumored to be fully customizable, which means that instead of function keys, the panel can show shortcut symbols to your favorite apps, for example.

The Macbook Pro 2016 is also rumored to feature TouchID, which means fingerprint security may be available for this latest MacBook, much like the latest iPhone.

MacBook Pro 2016 will also have a slimmer and sleeker design. This is according to Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst. He said Apple will use specialized hinges for this to happen. The sleeker design will come from "shallower curves around the edges," according to Tech Times.

Specs

The MacBook Pro 2016 will have a 15-inch 5K Apple display (equivalent to 5120 x 2880 screen resolution) and will come in various colors. It will also have the Lightning port for audio and four USB-C ports. It will also have AMD Polaris GPUs. The MacBook Pro 2016 is also rumored to have a 13-inch variation.

Rescheduled Apple Event

The rumored launch date of the MacBook Pro 2016 was set at an October event. However, Apple announced that this event will be moved at a later date because they re-scheduled their 4th quarter earnings call.

Along with the announcement of the MacBook Pro 2016, it was also rumored that Apple was supposed to announce other products and product upgrades.

The launching date could be moved next month, November, and rumors have already surfaced that the MacBook Pro will be launched by then.

Price

The MacBook Pro 2016 is rumored to be worth at least $1099 for the 13-inch variation, and $2,099 for the 15-inch; pretty hefty prices but with all its rumored features on hand, that may be justified.
