MacBook Pro 2016 News: Apple Fans Looking Forward to Touchscreen Shortcuts -- When is the Release Date?

The Shortcuts are Expected to Be Useful Commands for Users Navigating Non-Full Screen Apps

A more powerful Apple laptop with brand new features is expected with the upcoming release of the MacBook Pro 2016 before the year ends.

One of the most anticipated introductions to the new Mac Book installment is a touchscreen panel, which is rumored to be part of its keyboard. Renders of the MacBook Pro 2016 revealed that the touchscreen option could be placed above the numbers row and could accommodate shortcut buttons for the laptop.

In explaining more of the feature, Ben Lovejoy of 9to5Mac highlighted that the touchscreen buttons could be useful in accessing one app to another if the user is not utilizing the full screen mode for these applications. He said that the shortcuts can just be tapped once to access it.

However, he said that this feature may not be great for full screen applications. "A better approach would be to have the Shift key switch between functions," Lovejoy suggested, noting that this will be easier for the users. He also hoped that this touchscreen feature will not be a mere gimmick for Apple to offer a new function that will not really be of help to customers.

Apart from the touchscreen offering, the MacBook Pro 2016 will also be thinner and lighter compared to earlier models. It claimed that the design and makeup of the upcoming device could mimic that of the 12-inch MacBook model.

Meanwhile, the laptop will also come with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, a feature which Apple introduced to the iPhone. It is also believed to have a USB Type-C port and Thunderbolt 3.0 compatible sockets. Its battery is also expected to last for about 10 hours, providing users with long work hours a reliable and useful laptop.

Another exciting feature that the new MacBook could introduce is the "zero travel" trackpad, which could replace the laptop's keyboard. Apple filed a patent for this kind of technology last year. A simple press on the surface would have a designated feedback from this trackpad.

The initial release date of the device was said to be this month, but it could be delayed until October. This will be after Apple releases the new iPhone 7 believed to come out by September.

When it comes out of stores, the laptop could maintain the price range of the Pro which is set at $1,099 for the basic model with no Retina feature. The 13-inch with Retina is priced at $2,099.
