The OLED Function Panel and Touch ID Rumors Are Stronger

Despite the impracticality of a Touch ID and an OLED function panel for the MacBook Pro 2016, the rumors of it are resurfacing again.

If the resurfacing rumors are true, the MacBook Pro 2016 may actually have these features. Insiders and industry experts are torn about the OLED function panel and the Touch ID, but Apple may have a few plans for them up their sleeve.

An unnamed source apparently told 9To5 Mac that the MacBook Pro 2016 will have an OLED function panel and a Touch ID. The latter would be incorporated in the power button of the MacBook Pro 2016, similar to what Apple has done for its later iPhone models. Meanwhile, the OLED function panel will have different controls, Mac Rumors reports. This will depend on what apps and programs are running on the MacBook Pro 2016.

The Touch ID on MacBook Pro 2016 could be possible because the outlet's source saw it being teased on the macOS Sierra. The new operating system was announced at WWDC 2016 and a new security feature called Auto Unlock. With this new security feature, users could access their MacBooks while the device is still secured. It also works on the Apple Watch and was demonstrated that the MacBook unlocks when the watch is near it.

Furthermore, the MacBook Pro 2016 is also rumored to be thinner than its predecessor. Because of this, it is expected to have thinner speakers at the side, thinner hinges, and a USB-C port. Fans and critics are expecting a lot of upgrades for the MacBook Pro 2016 as Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, stated that the upcoming device will have more upgrades than Apple did in the recent years.

MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date, Pricing

The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be released in the fall, specifically on October. TNW reports that Apple has been producing the devices and that it won't be long until they release it after its announcement.

Apple has not made any official announcement about the MacBook Pro 2016, but it may be similar to the current model out in the market today, according to Tech Radar. The price for the current MacBook Pro is around $1,100 for the 13-inch non-Retina variant and $1,120 for the Retina version. The 15-inch MacBook Pro might go for around $2,100.
