According to a source, Streep and Cher have great chemistry and that they're very much enjoying each other's company during film productions for "Mamma Mia 2."

"Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again" is anticipated to go back and forth in Donna's past to portray how her past relationships created a ripple that has affected her future. Young Donna will be accompanied by a young Rosie, played by Alexa Davies, and a young Tanya, portrayed by Jessica Keenan Wynn.

Brosnan's Sam will also have a young version to be played by Jeremy Irvine, Skarsgard's Bill will be portrayed by Josh Dylan, and Firth's Harry will be played by Hugh Skinner.

Film productions are held in London and Croatia, which are cheaper venues than Greece.

The original producer of "Mamma Mia" for theatre and the 2008 film, Judy Craymer, will continue to oversee productions for the sequel, alongside Playtone's Gary Goetzman. The sequel is slated to be released 10 years after the first film was released.

The franchise is known for using ABBA's hit songs as part of the film. The sequel will include ABBA songs that weren't used in the previous film and theatre performances, along with old favorites.

"Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again" is slated to premiere on July 20, 2018.
