A man has killed a TV host in Montana in an incident that has shocked fans of the victim, who had worked on the Sportsman Channel show "A Rifleman's Journal."

According to reports a northwestern Montana man shot and killed TV host Gregory G. Rodriguez, as the popular TV personality was visiting the shooter's wife.

The accused, Wayne Bengston, 41, then is said to have beaten his wife before taking his 2-year-old son to a relative's house. Police have said that the man then drove about 25 miles to West Glacier, where he apparently killed himself.

Bengston's wife has reported to police that Rodriguez was in the area for business and stopped by to visit her at her mother's house in Whitefish on Thursday night. However, her husband showed up, sparking a bloody confrontation.

Early reports did not confirm how 43 year old Rodriguez and the women knew one another.

The shootings sparked a manhunt for Bengston and Flathead County sheriff's deputies found his truck parked in his driveway. A SWAT team was then called and their attempts to contact the suspect inside were unsuccessful, leading to them entering the residence. There they found the man's dead body, and it appears as though he died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

Rodriguez was a mortgage banker before founding Global Adventure Outfitters and operating as its CEO. He was also the editor of Shooting Times Magazine.

According to The Associated Press, a representative of Global Adventure Outfitters confirmed on Friday that Rodriguez had been in Montana on business, but added that the organization would not be making a statement at this time.
