'Man of Steel 2' Updates: Matthew Vaughn's Version of the Movie to be Fun, Feel Good

After confirming recently that he is in talks with Warner Bros. for a possible directorial stint with the yet to be officially announced "Man of Steel 2," Matthew Vaughn has revealed that the sequel will have the vibe of the original "Superman" movie that made Christopher Reeves a household name in the '70s in the event that he gets to helm it.

While talks about "Man of Steel 2" have been around for more than a year already, Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce the sequel to the 2013 blockbuster that starred Henry Cavill. However, with "Kingsman" director, Vaughn, confirming that he is in talks with Warner Bros. for a possible directorial job for the sequel, it is now suspected that it is just a matter of time before "Man of Steel 2" is officially announced.

Although it remains unclear whether Vaughn will clinch the directorial job, the director has recently revealed that, in the event he gets to direct the movie, it will be a modern version of the classic "Superman" movies directed by Richard Donner.

"I think my main take would be, it's really boring but make a Superman film. I just don't feel a proper Superman—I think Donner did it to perfection for that time. Just doing the modern—I wanna do a modern version of the Donner (version). Go back to the source material... For me Superman is color, feel-good, heroic. He's a beacon of light in darkness. And that's what I think Superman should be," Vaughn said in an interview with Collider recently.

To recall, while the 2013 "Man of Steel" directed by Zack Snyder earned more than $668 billion as its worldwide gross, some fans and critics alike couldn't help but criticize it for being a little too dark and serious. After all, the movie was the first Warner Bros' DCEU (DC Extended Universe) project, and DCEU movies are supposed to be dark as earlier explained by Warner Bros' Greg Silverman, who said that they are about tackling interesting philosophies and character development.

With Patty Jenkins, "Wonder Woman" director, admitting earlier that she also referenced to Donner's "Superman" movies in the Gal Gadot blockbuster, will Warner Bros. approve of Vaugn's vision for "Man of Steel 2" in the event that he gets to sit on the director's chair for "Man of Steel 2?"

Fans can only speculate for now.
