Man Returns Stolen Money More Than 60 Years After Stealing (VIDEO)

A man who stole money from a store in Seattle more than six decades ago has emerged again to give the cash back with interest, a store manager has reported.

Gary Lorentson, manager of the Seattle Sears store, has explained that an elderly gentleman entered the store early on Monday morning. The elderly man handed over an envelope with the words “Sears Manager” written on it to a customer service representative.

The store manager explained to KING-TV, Seattle that the envelope contained a $100 bill and a personal note. The note read: "During the late (forties) I stole some money from the cash register in the amount of $20-$30.”

It continued saying: "I want to pay you back this money in the amount of $100 to put in your theft account."

The elderly man did not identify himself but simply left after handing over the note.

"I think his conscience has been bothering him for the past 60 years," Lorentson said.

The store has verified that the money given will be put to charity work to help those in need over the Christmas season.
