Man Runs Into Burning Home to Save Xbox

An Olathe, Kansas man risked his life to save his Xbox when his house caught on fire. The unknown man is grateful to be alive but even more grateful to have saved his gaming console.

According to reports, the man woke up to the realization that his home was on fire. He quickly vacated the burning building and ran back inside in order to save the prized Xbox. Thankfully he survived with little effects from the smoke inhalation he suffered, and doctors gave him a clean bill of health. The fire caused nearly $80,000 in damages and has been blamed on an electrical junction box, according to ABC.

The story is causing a great deal of head-smacking across the country, much like the story of an Alabama family who lost their home after setting fire to trees in order to get rid of toilet paper stuck in them. Cheryl Crausewell told Fox News that her family had been stuck with the mess after neighborhood kids threw toilet paper into the trees. She and her son decided to light a piece of the toilet paper on fire in an effort to remove it from the trees. Unfortunately, the wind blew that lit piece into the yard, starting a small fire.

"It just popped out into a little patch and we tried to put it out and it just kept going, so I was trying to keep it from going down the front porch and came down the bank and around the back of the house," Crausewell explained.

The fire quickly reached a propane gas tank and then ended up lighting the family's home on fire. Thankfully, Crausewell was able to get her son, elderly aunt, mother, and her aunt's caregiver out of the home by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. Unfortunately, the family lost everything but has insurance and plans to rebuild on the property.
