Barcelona are still recognized as one of the most established powerhouses in world football, however, they have struggled to maintain their amazing form of 3 to 4 years ago when Pep Guardiola was in charge.

Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has slammed Barcelona as the worst Barca team for years in the run up to this week's Champions League fixtures. However, not many would argue that a struggling Barca team is still a force to reckon with – they are currently top of the Spanish La Liga, and still have more power and skill on their bench than most European teams could wish for in their starting line up.

In team news for Manchester City, Fernandinho is set to return for tonight's game. The midfielder missed City's last three matches with a muscle problem but trained on Monday and is expected to be available.

However, striker Sergio Aguero is still out with a hamstring injury.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini has said, "He is not fit. We will see if he can be fit for Saturday [to play Stoke] but maybe that is difficult."

Aguero has not featured for City at all in February after suffering an injury in City's 5-1 victory over Tottenham. He had scored 26 goals in 25 games this season, and will be sorely missed tonight for the English team.

City have been praised all season for their attacking style and exciting play. They have scored 68 goals in 25 games in the EPL this season, which is the highest of any Premier League team this season. Manager Pellegrini has said he will order his team to maintain their attacking mindset tonight against Barcelona – a team that often forces opposition sides onto the back-foot by keeping possession for long periods.

The City boss has said, "Of course when you play against Barca you always must consider important things. But the most important thing is to continue being the same team you see every week in Premier League, to continue having the same style of play and the personality.

"We are not just going to think about defending, but what we can do with the ball. That is the most important thing."
