Stuttgart are clearly dubbed as the underdogs in the match as they are facing one of the elite European teams.

However, they are very capable of stringing in an excellent game to topple even the best the continent has to offer.

Furthermore, they are heading into their new season in Germany so they are expected to field in a strong team in order to reach match fitness when the new Bundesliga season begins.

So far, Stuttgart are riding a three-game win streak as they have beaten Ilshofen, Aalen and Winterthur in their latest friendlies.

They have impressed in these matches, especially against Ilshofen where they forced 13 goals in a shutout victory.

Stuttgart followed it with 1-0 and 4-1 victories to continue their positive summer.

Now will be their biggest task of the pre-season as they are looking to upset the English Premier League giants.

Meanwhile, City are still in the transfer window as they try to solidify their squad. They already made one big signing with Raheem Sterling completing his mega-money move from Liverpool to join the Etihad Stadium squad.

Now they must feel that they can challenge for titles and have success in the UEFA Champions League – and a battle against a German club should be a stern test on where they stand against other teams from different leagues.

Their last friendly was a hybrid match against Vietnam and the national team were no contest against Manchester City.

City blasted them with eight goals in the 8-1 affair and they should try to continue their positive run against Stuttgart as they are in their final preparations for the season.

The following week, they face West Bromwich Albion in their first game of the English Premier League campaign.
