Manchester City will host Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad on Sunday and will be looking to maintain their perfect league home record.

City have won all five league matches played at home while scoring 20 goals and conceding just two during those matches.

It has been their poor road record that has them in the eighth spot with just one win and a total of four points from six matches leaving them with a total of 19 league points.

Much of the talk about City has been the benching of goalkeeper Joe hart. The England goalkeeper was dropped by City three weeks ago after a series of embarrassing errors and was replaced by Romanian international Costel Pantilimon.

"I think at this moment that maybe Joe needs a rest but we still have a lot of trust in Joe and he's still a very important player in our squad," City boss Manuel Pellegrini told reporters during a press conference. "I am absolutely sure that this will be an important thing for him to come back to his performances of the last two years."

Tottenham head into the match one place and one point above City in the standings, but have cooled off recently after starting the season winning five out of six.

Spurs lost 1-0 at home to Newcastle before the international break and have struggled to score goals netting just nine in 11 matches. Still solid defensive play have keep Spurs in the top half of the table conceding just six goals in the league.

Although they have the second best defensive record allowing just six goals, the north Londoners have found it difficult to score goals themselves.

"We need a result after the disappointment against Newcastle and it's important to win this game," Spurs midfielder Lewis Holtby said during a press conference. "It's going to be a tough game. It's a match between two opponents that like to play attacking football and I think it's going to be a great game to watch.

"It's going to be the details that decide the game. We need a result after the disappointment against Newcastle and it's important to win this game. Everyone will be trying their best to win a top game like this."

Kick off for the match is at 8:30 ET and can be watched online here.
