Manchester United vs Real Sociedad is one of a number of big Champions League matches on Wednesday night, with the English champions looking to maintain their push to claim control of Group A as the group stages approaches the half way point. The game will start at 2.45 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
United will be desperate to win today and have a strong Champions League campaign this year after making their worst start to a domestic league season for 24 years under new manager David Moyes.
The Manchester team is used to have slightly sloppy starts to the season, but most fans will find it hard to remember such a sluggish start to their season. They are already eight points behind English Premier League leaders Arsenal at this point, and if they lose many more points over the coming few months it is unlikely they will be able to defend their title.
Recently they have drawn 1-1 at home to Southampton, as well as losing 1-2 to West Bromwich Albion, and those results have upset many fans. Moyes knows the results are not good enough and he will be hoping a good win tonight can lift some of the pressure he is feeling trying to fill Sir Alex Ferguson's boots.
One statistic Moyes will not like the look of, is that United have a recent record of only winning one of their last six games at home to Spanish opposition, and although a draw would not be the end of the world tonight, it would allow their group rivals, Shakhtar Donetsk or Bayer 04 Leverkusen, the chance to leapfrog them into first place in the group.
Their only win over their last six home games against Spanish opposition was all the way back in 2008 against Barcelona, when Paul Scholes scored an amazing winner in the semi-final of the competition.
