Manny Pacquiao Agrees to Drug Test, Says Fight with Mayweather is 'Near'
Manny Pacquiao said that the long-awaited fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. is "near" after he agreed to the American fighter's demand to undergo drug testing.
"We agreed to their demand," said Pacquiao to reporters on Monday after a break from evening sessions in congress, where the lawmaker is representing Sarangani province. "In fact, I suggested a $5 million fine if I test positive for drugs."
The eight-division world champion said that negotiations were nearly complete after he agreed to undergo drug testing.

"[The fight] is near. The negotiations are nearly finished," said the Filipino boxer. "We agreed that this fight has to happen. We are ironing out the kinks. [Mayweather] said he wants the fight to push through."
Meanwhile, Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, is reportedly working on a game plan for the Filipino star's proposed fight with Mayweather.
"I honestly feel the fight is going to happen," said Roach to SecondsOut. "Floyd has talked on TV twice at the basketball game, which is very unusual."
"Bob Arum wants the fight, I want the fight and Manny wants the fight; a lot of good names want this fight and usually when these high people want it, they get it," he added.
Roach said that he is very confident about Pacquiao winning the match.
"I've done some research on Floyd and on sparring partners. This is going to be the biggest challenge ever but I think my guy can pull it off but it won't be easy," he said. "It's a very tactical fight and I have come up with a great game plan."
Although no official confirmation has been forthcoming, Pacquiao is expected to face Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on May 2.
