Manny Pacquiao News: Bob Arum Wants Champion Terence Crawford To Fight 'Pacman' If Filipino Boxer Opts To Forego Retirement

Top Rank Promotions head honcho Bob Arum is still leaving an option open for eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, should the latter decide to forego his retirement plans.

"Pacman" will be fighting his 66th and final fight on April 9 in a rubber match against WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley. The fight is slated to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Pacquiao, who turns 38-years-old this year, has repeatedly declared his intent to retire from boxing after fighting Bradley, mainly to put his focus on being a full-time politician in the Philippines. But not everyone is dead set on believing that the Filipino boxing icon will really hang up his gloves for good after April 9th.

His own trainer Freddie Roach is one of them. And like Roach, Arum is skeptical about his most prized ward finally calling it quits. In fact, he already has an opponent in mind for Pacquiao's next plausible fight.

In a report by Boxingscene, Arum says undefeated WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford would be a good opponent for Pacquiao. Prior to the finalization of the Bradley rubber match, Crawford was one of the names in the shortlist for Pacquiao's opponents for April 9th.

Along with him on the list was Pacquiao's former sparring partner Amir Khan.

In the said report, the 84-year-old promoter also says he would still be promoting Pacquiao's fights, if the latter does carry on with his fighting career.

Crawford is slated to face former NABO lightweight champion Henry Lundy on February 27th in New York, where he will be putting his title on the line. This is a scenario that Arum also put in consideration.

"If he beats Lundy, we'll do one more with Crawford in June or July and then I want to a big fight for Crawford, a big pay-per-view fight," Arum said. "We'll look at what's available. If Manny beat Bradley and decides that he wants to keep fighting, then Crawford is the perfect opponent."
