Manny Pacquiao Prepares for Fight, Prays For Opponents

Manny Pacquiao is preparing to fight Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time Saturday, and he admitted to praying for his opponents.

The champion fighter spoke at a Las Vegas press conference about his upcoming bout and his preparation for the ring.

"I'm always praying," said Pacquiao. "Not praying for myself, but for all the fighters who are going to fight on Saturday, especially my opponent, that nobody will get hurt. Well, I mean badly hurt."

There were no verbal spars thrown between the fighters at the pre-fight press conference Wednesday. Instead, Pacquiao thanked his fans.

“Because of the fans we are here in front of you. I always thank the support of the fans,” the fighter said. “I hope everyone tunes in on Saturday. It's going to be a good fight.”

The eight-time champion also spoke about the dedication that each fighter had to their craft: “We work hard and do our best in training so that we can give a good fight on Saturday,” Pacquiao said. “It will be my last fight with Marquez and a great and exciting fight."

Marquez was not extremely vocal at the same press conference, and said he would rather show himself in the ring Saturday.

"A lot of people know me. I don't like talking outside of the ring," Márquez said."I do my job in the ring and I prepare myself very hard because I want to give another great show, another great fight."

However, the Mexican boxer made sure to thank his fans and supporters.

"All of the people, especially all of the Mexican people around the world and of course in my country, I thank you for your support and will do my best to make you proud on Saturday," Marquez added.

The bout between Pacquiao and Marquez will take place Nov. 12 on Pay-per-view.
