Mariah Carey BET Awards 2013 Performance Lip-Synced?

Mariah Carey is the latest singer to face backlash over possibly lip-syncing her performance during Sunday's BET Awards.

The iconic singer delivered a rendition of her latest single "Beautiful" which features Miguel who performed alongside during the awards show, as well as Young Jeezy.

However, many viewers are incensed that Carey not only seemed to be pretending to sing, but that the performance was poorly masked as being real.

Despite their loyalty to the 43-year-old, Carey's fans took their frustration to Twitter on Sunday night.

"Why does Mariah Carey lip sync she's probably the only artist who shouldn't need to," wrote Emma.

Another Twitter user posted, "Mariah. Do us all a favor. Don't put your finger in your ear like that when it is obvious you are lip-syncing. It's embarrassing."

Meanwhile, Carey's husband Nick Cannon has denied that the former "American Idol" judge faked her performance.

"My wife is a perfectionist and clearly because she's done it right her whole life," said Cannon, according to E! News. "So she actually puts a lot of work into these performances. There's no management helping make decisions."

"Everything you see is all her, whether it's a collaboration when the lights hit, how she enters, she's doing all of that," Cannon maintained.

Regardless of her controversial performance, Carey did receive compliments for debuting a recently slimmer figure. The singer wore a white and silver gown by Pavoni by Mikael D. which showcased her weight loss.

Sunday's awards show is not the first time the 43-year-old singer has been accused of pre-recording a performance during the season finale of "American Idol" just two months ago.

Furthermore, Carey is among several other singers who have gotten flak for lip-syncing. In January during President Obama's inauguration, Beyonce admitted to having pre-recorded her performance.
