Marilyn Monroe's death is now facing a revived series of unanswered questions at the revelation that FBI files concerning the star's demise have gone missing.

While Monroe's death has long been ruled a "probable suicide" the word probable has caused much grief and in turn lent to a number of conspiracy theories revolving her last years.

It was recently revealed that the FBI's files on Marilyn Monroe, which for years have been censored or made inaccessible, have gone missing according to the Associated Press. The media organization attempted to access the files over nine months ago, under the Freedom of Information Act, but after a long delay were told that the files could not be located.

Files had reportedly been kept on the actress due to her suspected ties to communism and heavy influence on the population.

For years conspiracy theories surrounding the star have surfaced, particularly in relation to her association with President John F. Kenny. Some theories suggest that the government played a role in the star's death. Other theories have also suggested that the CIA was involved in the deaths of JFK and another of his former mistresses, Mary Pinchot Meyer.

Both Monroe and Meyer, based on different theories, were allegedly suspected to pose a threat due to their ability to influence.

While recent files of Monroe have been made publicly available on the FBI website, all have been censored- a move which has been contested by AP.

AP "appealed the FBI's continued censorship of its Monroe files, noting the agency has not given 'any legal or factual analysis of the foreseeable harm that might result from the release of the full records.'"

However the records have still yet to be released.

In the book "Mary's Mosaic: The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy, Mary Pinchot Meyer, and Their Vision of World Peace," author Peter Janney suggests that the CIA at the time was on a mission to gain control of foreign policy.

However influential women like Mary Pinchot Meyer, and now perhaps even Marilyn Monroe, allegedly encouraged the President to seek peace resulting in his assassination and possibly the assassination of others.
