Mario Kart 8 Sales Reach 2 Million in Less Than a Month

Mario Kart 8 moved 2 million units in less than a month's time.

The game seems to have rejuvenated the Wii U as it is easily the fastest selling title on the console thus far. Twitter user @NStyles claims Nintendo confirmed this milestone earlier today.

The company held its 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders where Nintendo rep Genyo Takeda made the announcement. There still has not been an official confirmation made at this time.

The Mario Kart 8 Mercedes car DLC will roll out for European and North American Wii U owners later this summer.

Nintendo announced the release for the update on its Twitter account earlier this week. The gaming company promised that it would come sometime before the end of this summer. It also released a short ad that features the original Super Mario Bros and an 8-bit version of a Mercedes appearing in the game.  It ends with the real Mercedes GLA driving through a desert with a real-life Mario stepping out of the car.

Walmart is now offering the Wii U Mario Kart 8 bundle at the new price of $329.

People who don't yet own a Wii U system will find it easy to get in on the action. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Set bundle includes a Wii U Deluxe Set system, a Mario Kart 8 game, a red Mario Wii Wheel accessory and a red Mario Wii Remote Plus controller.

Nintendo offers even more incentives than just what comes with the actual bundle as customers who purchase it and register Mario Kart 8 with Club Nintendo before July 31 will receive a free Nintendo eShop download code for an additional Wii U game.

The free game allows buyers to choose from various Wii U titles including New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, or Wii Party U. This is basically a 2-for-1 deal that will allow buyers to get their hands on quality titles for the Wii U.
