Nintendo and Namco Bandai are teaming up to create Mario Kart Arcade GP DX for Western arcades this holiday season.

The arcade cabinet game was announced back in February and released in Japan in July, which would be the third version of the series behind the console and handheld versions and the third installment of the arcade branch.

Mario Kart Arcade has 10 playable courses and will include the characters, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser Jr., Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Don from Taiko no Tatsujin series, reported Polygon.

Two new modes have been introduced for the arcade game, Alter-Ego, where the character races against ghosts of themselves, and Team, where two players race against two in game opponents. Returning will be Grande Prix and Battle Modes.

Mario Kart 7 will also play a part in the mechanics of the game as the arcade version borrows the underwater racing and gliders features introduced in this game.

For the Wii U and 3DS, Mario Kart 8 will be released on April 25, a U.K. retailer said. Littlewoods retailer made the claim and said they are already taking pre-orders for the game in their stores.

Although an official release date has not been announced by Nintendo, Littlewoods is standing by their claim, according to the Inquirer.

Previously, Mario Kart 8 was slated for an April 2014 release, according to an accidentally leaked newsletter from Nintendo of Europe. So this April 25 prediction could very well be true.

The game revolves around characters in the Super Mario universe and their head-to-head racecar battles. Players are able to cycle through a series of weapons and gadgets to enhance their skills on the track.

Mario Kart has been a staple of the Nintendo since Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo in 1992.
