Mark Wahlberg Working Toward High School Diploma Online

Mark Wahlberg, 41-year-old actor and film producer, is working on receiving his high school diploma online.

Wahlberg admitted that he is working on an online program in Massachusetts where he will receive a high school diploma, as opposed to a GED.

"They're going to give me whatever credits I already have, which is probably like one or two," the actor said in a recent interview on "The Late Show With David Letterman."

Wahlberg told Letterman about his latest goal.

"It's an actual diploma not a GED," Wahlberg said. "I've got to take up all the courses that I missed. I'm a little nervous."

The actor explained why he had yet to receive the diploma at 41 years old.

"I quit kind of during the ninth grade," Wahlberg admitted, citing his run-ins with the law as the reason for him not attending school.

However, the actor revealed why he has a desire to go back to school.

"It's one of those things where I said, 'You know what? I'm going to make it happen,'" he told Letterman.

Wahlberg, who serves as the ambassador for Taco Bell's Graduate to Go program, said he was anxious to get through the experience.

"I just wanna be able to blast through and do it," he told Letterman. "It's just a matter of getting back in there."

Although Wahlberg admitted that beating up a Vietnamese man when he was 16 years old landed him in jail, he has recently spoken about devoting his life to the teachings of Jesus Christ. In an interview with Anderson Cooper last year, Wahlberg credited his time in jail for helping to turn his life around.

"Jail was definitely a wake-up call for me. I was 16 years old, I was arrested and tried as an adult," Wahlberg said. "A lot of the guys I looked up to in the neighborhood were actually there, and I had become one of them. This (was) not what I (wanted) out of my life. So I decided from that point on that I was going to turn my life around."

Wahlber told Cooper that he attends church regularly.

"I definitely go to church every day. That's how I start my day – I like to get in there for 15 to 20 minutes and say my prayers," Wahlberg shared. "I pray to be a good servant to God, a father, a husband, a son, a friend, a brother, an uncle, a good neighbor, a good leader to those who look up to me, a good follower to those who are serving God and doing the right thing."
