Marvel's 'Ant-Man' Movie Plot Spoilers, News: Judy Greer Reveals Plenty of 'Comedic Improv' in Film

Details for the upcoming big screen offering from Marvel, "Ant-Man," is still being kept under wraps. Despite the serious tone of the movie's trailer, the forthcoming title will contain much humor.

Judy Greer, who plays Maggie in the superhero flick shared her experience during the film's production stage. The 39-year-old "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" star knew little about the Marvel Universe, both the comics and its cinematic counterparts.

"I did an interview and the guy asks me who my favorite superhero was. I said Batman and he goes, 'That's DC.' And then I was like, 'Oh, sorry, Wonder Woman!' and he goes, 'That's DC,'" Greer confessed in an IGN interview.

To compensate for her ignorance of the genre, her agent got her a "beautiful hardcover book" about all that is Marvel.

Without spilling too much information, the TV show actress also talked about the theme of "Ant-Man."

"The Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there's something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family," she said.

As for the humor's content of the movie, Greer said that fans should expect a good amount of comedy when it opens in theaters.

"I haven't seen it yet but there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv. I don't know what will end up in the movie, but yeah," the actress concluded.

Marvel's "Ant-Man" is slated to be released this July 17.
